This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are inquisitive and energetic 3rd graders from a low-income community in Chicago. Most come from Spanish speaking households and many have transitioned from the bilingual program at our school.

We love to read!

My students support, encourage and congratulate each other throughout the day. They make me laugh when they sing and dance during our Brain Breaks on Go Noodle. We are a classroom of animal lovers and the students happily take on the responsibility of caring for our classroom fish, gecko, and hamster.

As their teacher, it is important to me that I create a learning environment that is comfortable and engaging where students enjoy coming to each day.

My Project

My classroom loves to read! English, Spanish, classroom read alouds, independent reading, partner reading...we enjoy all of it! But honestly who wants to sit at a table while reading? Uncomfortable! Adding four Back Jack Floor Chair is the perfect classroom solution. It supports student learning by providing students opportunities for choice, comfort, and collaboration.

Students love flexible seating options!

Students can easily move Back Jack Floor Chairs anywhere in the classroom. They can pick a secluded area to work alone or partner up with one of their peers.

This grant will provide students with a comfy seating option and add to the student-centered environment in our classroom.
