My Students
My class is composed of 17 adorable, creative children. I am so blessed to see their inquisitive little minds at work daily. Our classroom is full of energy & innovation. I hope to give each and every one of my students a loving, safe environment to learn!
I teach 2nd grade at a Title I school in Texas, where we are still recovering for the devastating effects of Hurricane Harvey.
These students lived through a rough 1st grade year due to the Hurricane in 2017. However, my students are resilient & eager to learn. Many of these children lost everything in the storm, are still displaced, & unfortunately lacking basic necessities, but they show up every morning trying their best to smile. My students are survivors & they deserve the best.
My Project
My classroom is housed in a portable trailer, therefore I have very little space to provide many flexible seating options for my students. Although they are able to move around the classroom, they still have to sit on the cold, hard tile floor! They struggle to get comfortable, which often times leads to distraction.
These comfy floor seats will provide flexible seating options that will encourage my students to stay focused and motivated while learning.
It will also help with the small space issue we face in the classroom, since the seating can be moved around easily. They will be able to collaborate with their peers in a comfortable and safe learning environment.
