Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This year, our students will be rotating between art class, music class, and the library. The PE Library is embracing this opportunity to see our students more frequently and encourage our students' independent reading skills. Though classes regularly visited in previous years for read alouds, library lessons, and more, students were limited to either sitting at wooden tables or sitting on the floor.
This year, our goal is to have reading spaces in the library that reflect a reading environment that students could find at home.
Children at home often read on beds, on couches, on the floor, and in all sorts of different places. Not just in a chair at a table. Over the past few years, the library has acquired stools for our read aloud space and a couch for independent reading. With the addition of these flexible floor seats, students will have an easily transportable seating option to read around the room during their increased time in the library.
