This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"Prepare today for the needs that you will have tomorrow" is the moral of one of my students' favorite fables. I take seriously the role that I have been afforded in making sure that they are ready to meet the challenges that await them once they leave my classroom.
My students are bundles of energy who need to be engaged in meaningful activities at all times.
They are a diverse group with diverse academic needs and abilities. Because the transition from second to third grade can be a bit challenging, I want to provide as many resources and opportunities as possible to ensure my students' success.
My Project
My students need comfortable, Round Carry Me Cushions and a rug to sot on as they engage with books in our literacy lab. Who said that students should be confined to their desks when reading? To encourage daily reading and to instill a love of doing so, I want to offer students the flexibility to cozy up with books throughout the literacy lab. The large rug and cushions will allow students the space and comfort they need as they engage in various reading activities.
It is my desire to make our school's literacy lab a warm and inviting space.
My hope is that these items will help create an environment that students love and that, as a result, their love of reading will increase.
