Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are kind, caring, dedicated, and hardworking. I am very fortunate to work with students in the dual language program. My students are very special, and some of them even come from different countries. My students speak both English and Spanish, with most of the students being native Spanish speakers. My students love reading, and reading is very important in the classroom.
In my classroom we are bilingual, and we love sharing our knowledge with others, and love learning in both languages.
My students love being engaged, and comfortable when doing their work. Most of the students come from low income families and some of them do not have access to books at home, so reading in the classroom is very important. My students come ready to learn every day, and ready to give it their all.
My Project
The students will use the Spanish books to read in the classroom, since it is hard to find Spanish chapter books for students. The students will use the classroom rug to sit at instead of the cold floor during winters, and will be able to sit during a lesson or read aloud. The students will use bean bags, stools, yoga balls to sit at while they are either reading or in small groups.
With the comfortable seating and new Spanish books my students will be able to learn and read comfortably everyday.
Flexible seating helps the students take charge of their own learning, and eager to learn by just sitting somewhere different than their regular chair.
