Help me give my students alternate seating when completing projects and working in groups. Many students are more comfortable sitting around the room or on bar stools instead of at their seat working.
My students are eager to learn! Each day they embrace new challenges and meet those challenges head on. Middle schoolers are at an age where peer pressure is almost at extreme levels. I believe that as educators it is our duty and privilege to make middle school a place of great learning experiences and warm relationships.
Our school is in an area hard hit by businesses closing and downsizing.
We have a free and reduced lunch population of about 55%. Our students are far from privileged, but are eager to better themselves and excel.
My Project
Flexible seating will allow my students to make the choices that work best. They will be able to choose where to work during independent work. Now my students only have the choice of sitting, standing at the counter, or sitting on the floor with a lap board.
Giving them a choice of seating helps to motivate them when working on projects, group or independent work.
The products that I have chosen will help give them options when in class. The exercise balls and doughnuts will allow students to work when they need to move or wiggle.
