This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a media specialist in a Title I school where the majority of the students receive free or reduced price lunch. I think the students in my school are very special. Even though they have many economic disadvantages, they work really hard and never give up. They are dedicated students and put in lots of effort to be successful with their school work. They not only want to succeed, but they want their peers to succeed as well. They work in teams to make sure everyone understands the concepts and no one gets left behind or falls through the cracks.

My Project

When reading to my students in the media center some kids will be happy to sit on the rug but not everyone. Some kids are just uncomfortable sitting cross cross apple sauce. They squirm or sit on their legs, all along missing the lesson because they can’t get comfortable or their foot fell asleep. I am asking for these benches as an alternative to sitting on the rug. Especially for my upper grade students and students who don’t like sitting on the floor. These benches will help my students focus on the book/ lesson. They will cut down on distraction and increase engagement.
