Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I literally begged my principal to let me move up to 2nd grade with my 1st graders from last year. They are the most extraordinary, caring group of students that always find a way to spotlight each other's strengths while helping each other overcome weaknesses.
Even though 10 students ended the year below grade level in reading and 10 below level in math- they are determined to persevere.
The entire class becomes cheerleaders for each other and their support truly does have a positive impact. We always remind each other "You can!" and to #believeinyourselfie!
All of my students are economically disadvantaged, 12 are at risk for dropping out, 5 receive special education services, 2 receive GT services and 1 student receives dyslexia services. Student attendance plays a huge factor in student learning. 2 of my students missed more than 20 days, 5 missed between 11-15 days, 4 missed between 6-10 days, 5 missed between 1-5 days, and 1 student was able to achieve perfect attendance. One more thing...about 1/4 of my kiddos have been diagnosed with ADHD but several are not taking any medication to help them focus in school.
My Project
Young students were blessed with boundless energy. They thrive in the classroom and learn best when they are able to find their own space. Many of my students have been diagnosed with ADHD, but do not take medicine for one reason or another. These seating options would greatly help them, but also every other student in my class.
Kids are truly amazing when given the opportunity to learn and grow in their own unique ways.
This project would allow my students to feel more comfortable and confident than ever before.
The low Flex-Space table and awesome Flex-Space chairs would be a fun new way for a small group to get to work together in a different settings. The wobble cushions will be helpful for kids that need a little wiggle room in their chairs. Thank you so much for your time and I hope you will consider making this dream come true!
