This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My classroom is a safe place for kids to come learn and practice social skills! As the behavior interventionist who also teaches skills classes, I am confident with setting up a classroom for comfort and safety. The students in our alternative placement high school often come to school from chaotic homes with limited resources.
While I want my classroom to feel safe and cozy, I aim to allow for the best setting in which group work in social skills can be practiced.
Having a variety of seating areas such as a mixture of the couches with a large chair in several spots of the classroom will provide a structured environment for them to practice social skills as they would outside the classroom.
