This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is Title I and is located in a predominately Hispanic area. My students are faced with many obstacles both in and out of the classroom. Despite all the obstacles they face, their parents are very supportive and willing to help make a change.
My students love school!
They are eager to get their hands on their next learning adventure. They are willing and able to try just about anything related to their learning. They love to discuss things that they learn about and the books that they read with us during morning meeting. More importantly, my students want to be loved and to belong. My goal is to show them that they matter in a world this big and that they are destined for greatness.

My Project
Every year, I have a discussion with my students about what would make reading more appealing to them, for starters they mentioned some book titles. However, they quickly began discussing how uncomfortable and boring it was to read at their desks or on the hard floors. The problem is, we don't have many cozy, comfy areas where they can read during their independent time. Imagine, how inviting it would be to have some new diverse books, benches and an ottoman in the library. With your help I can convert our library into a comfy, cozy reading nook that will have my students swarming to.
