Preschool students love having books read to them in our library center. Unfortunately, the little couch we have in our preschool center is great for two children to sit with each other but is not the right size for a grown up to sit with children and a book. The preschool teachers must kneel in front of the little couch holding the book as we read aloud to children. This extra wide comfy couch will give a space for the teacher to comfortably sit with a student on each side. It will be so much easier to teach the children while reading the book, holding it comfortably on the wide couch. The students will be able to easily learn to turn the pages and point out book features when they are right next to their teacher, and it will be so much more enjoyable for the students to sit in a cozy group with their peers, teacher, and a book!
By donating to our project, you will not only help give the students a comfortable, extra wide couch for their read aloud experience with their teachers, you are helping the teachers teach more effectively by sitting up with their students on the couch instead of on the floor.
The students will love sitting on the extra wide, comfy couch with their friends as a teacher sits with them and reads them a book. This couch will be so inviting to the students. This will provide so many more opportunities for literacy experiences for the students in preschool.
