This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My classroom is made up of Spanish speaking students, who over 50% of just arrived in the United States in the past 6 months. Their schooling throughout the last few years, since COVID-19 began, has been inconsistent. They have lacked the resources needed for quality instruction. In their journey to the U.S. many of my students encountered situations that have drastically affected their mental health and social emotional learning. Creating a safe, calm, and comfortable learning space has become imperative. The pillows, comfy corner items, and organization tools are requested in efforts to make our classroom an organized and happy place to learn and grow.
This classroom project was brought to life by Gov. Jared Polis & the Colorado Dept. of Education.
