Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are extraordinary, they walk in to class with the desire to learn the Spanish language and embrace the culture of Spanish speaking countries. Our students have various ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, however, the majority (90%) are Hispanics/ Latino and raised in low-income households (99%) and all of them received a free meal plan.

I love to teach in a multicultural school that appreciates and embraces the background of every one of my students.

Within our class, we have fluent and non-Spanish speaking students, in addition to the linguistic differences, we also serve students with special needs.

One of our favorite sayings is “if we are not having fun we are doing it wrong” so we committed to having a good laugh every day in class as we learn and perfect the Spanish language.

My Project

Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work, they will choose a location in the classroom that works for them. Making the “Comfy Cozy Corner” area in my classroom will make my students feel more comfortable and will motivate them to learn Spanish. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating. They surprisingly always make good choices about where they sit and seems to be more engaged, as a result, they get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desk in their assigned seats.

My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of where to work.

The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices.

The Adjustable Natural Wooden Laptop Trays and the Waterglider International Zafu Yoga Meditation Pillow will help my students to work with their Chromebooks at their preferential seating. The MAHAO Japanese Style Handcrafted Eco-friendly Padded Knitted Straw Flat Seat Cushion will be used for the same purpose.
