Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My goal is that students are able to come into school for the first time excited and feeling comfortable in the classroom. My current carpet is full of marks, rips, glue, and overall strain from before I even started teaching. I want students to feel that their classroom is an exciting new, and refreshing environment in order for them to learn their best. The carpet provides enough space where students can sit comfortably and therefore ready to learn all that they can. We as adults find it hard to focus when we are not comfortable.
I think that this carpet could be used to review letters and sounds also.
Students can find letters, practice sounds of the obejcts, and match lowercase to uppercase. Students can move around to practice but then also sit on a spacious rug ready to focus on the day's lesson. It would make such a difference!
