Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Another year, means a fresh start. There are many things that make my students very special. They are in kindergarten and first grade. They come to my classroom with a fresh and eager mind for learning. They come in every morning with a smile on their face and look to me to help them build their love of reading, math, art, science, and the world around them. My students make our classroom a magical place, and I am honored to be their teacher this school year.
My Project
My K/1 students love Daily 5. One of the components of Daily 5 includes Read To Self. This where the students build their independent reading stamina. What they do is find a comfy spot in the classroom to read for as long as they can. They each have their own book bags with books at their own reading level. From here they choose a book and either read the pictures, words, or retell the story. It is a very sacred time of the day for us! This comfy blue couch will provide a loving and comfortable spot that will foster the love of reading.
