My students are growing and learning in a small, tight-knit, school community that allows them to each have a strong voice. They are dreamers, thinkers, talkers, and questioners. They are mini inspirations to themselves and others around them, even if they don't know it yet. They are world travelers, scientists, entrepreneurs, doctors, engineers, teachers. They are our future, and I want to give them the best start that I can to a successful life.
Many of my students have experienced trauma in their lives.
Our school serves students with a range of disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbance, autism spectrum disorder, and specific learning disabilities. Vermont small schools are taking a hit when it comes to budgets. Our classroom budget has been reduced. It is becoming harder and harder to purchase items for the classroom that would benefit the needs of all of the students.
Opportunities through DonorsChoose.org have the potential to make great things happen in my classroom. Thank you!
My Project
Welcoming furniture brings a cozy "piece of home" to the classroom. The Sense of Place Couch and Chair will draw children to build meaningful connections and conversation as they share a seat on this soft, easy to clean vinyl set. Created by an early childhood educator, this set builds upon the belief in the importance of young children's learning environment.
Children need heart-centered environments, places where they can find meaningful connections, and engage in profound communications with others.
This Sense of Place couch and chair set will provide classroom balance and calm that supports both adults and children to be their very best.
This set will continue to enhance our classroom with a "home-like" feel we believe is crucial in creating a safe, comfortable, and welcoming learning environment that will allow children to connect, explore and blossom as young learners.
