My students are amazing children who work very hard to achieve good grades despite the many obstacles that are thrown their way. They are eager to learn. Our school district is located in a low income area in central Ohio with over half of the district's students receiving state free or reduced-price lunch.
I want to provide my students the opportunity to learn and keep them enjoying being at school.
I want to make their environment as conductive to learning as I can.
My Project
I chose bean bag chairs in order to provide flexible seating that will provide an outlet for relaxed learning. The side table will be a place to put belongings or a CD player while listening to or reading their current book. The lamp will provide additional lighting to the area. And, most importantly, a rug will complete the comfy cozy learning environment.
It is my hope that each child will understand that reading is its own reward.
The difference in learning styles and varying abilities requires a lot of differentiation in instruction. They are learning what is considered typical middle school content; however, the average reading level for my class is second grade. My goal is to provide them with a learning environment that encourages both social and academic success.
