Comfy, Cool, and Creative Chair Choices for My Coastal Class!

As a first year teacher, I am zooming into this profession with passion and purpose for the year. I want my students to be excited when they think about coming into Mrs. Gamel's room. They challenge me every day to come up with new and innovative resources that fit each of their needs.
My students deserve the chance to experience new choices and opportunities as they advance to the thrilling, thriving world of third grade!

My Project
Flexible seating is a new and hot trend in the education world. As a first year teacher, I am continually looking to build my resources and supplies for a beneficial and successful classroom. My theme for the year is Nautical, while incorporating flexible seating options for all students to learn. I first saw these sort of "smart spots" during my student teaching experience and knew I wanted to use them in my own classroom when the day came. As the day is rapidly approaching, I am realizing more and more how useful these seats would be for every student that walks through the door.
The ultimate goal for my classroom is to provide the students with choice, comfort, and creative ways to incorporate learning in the classroom.
I am looking to do just that with the options for seating I have chosen. The aerobics balls would be placed right next to my desk for working with individual students. The cushions come in a set of eight, allowing multiple students to get the chance to share. The floor rocker is an excellent, trendy seat to make the students feel like they are at home.
Flexible seating is such a fun and fierce way to transform your community and classroom environment. They will be forced to work on collaborating with one another, to share the seats throughout the day, and develop a sense of community amongst each other. They will get the opportunity to spread out across the room, to get their own personal space, and break from the desks they have sat in for hours. Flexible seating is a game changer for all students, of all different abilities, and I can assure you, this project will be put to good use.
