Comfy Chairs For All!

Help me give my students 5 more comfy chairs so each student has their individual comfy chair to use! The comfy chairs offer students a place other than their table/desk to work at.

My Students

My first graders are full of energy and enthusiastic learners. They come from a variety of backgrounds, over fifty percent of them are from low-income households, many with parents working a morning and night job. My students truly love learning and are so eager to learn. As a teacher, I try to allow their learning to take place in ways they are comfortable!

We consider our classroom a "home-away-from home"!

My students walk into my classroom each day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them. Picture a group of students, completely engaged while having the ability to get involved and participate. I am lucky to be able to spend my days with such a fun and loving bunch. No matter what we are learning they try their best. My goal is to continue to create excitement and fun in the classroom and give them resources to help them learn in a variety of ways!

My Project

My first graders love a variety of ways to learn. Last year I had a small class in which we were lucky enough to have 1-to-1 comfy chairs which proved to especially be helpful among the COVID-19 pandemic. With the number rising again this year of the positive COVID cases, I want each student to have access to a comfy chair to use within the classroom. This year I have 5 more students than last year and would love to keep my comfy chairs 1-to-1 so each student has their own space and own chair so we are not worrying about transferring germs.

Students learn best when they are comfortable and engaged.

These chairs will offer my students an alternative when they are working on their reading, math, or playing a game to sit. As long as they are comfortable and engaged, I feel learning will take place! COVID has placed many limitations within the schools and I want each of my students to have access to a chair so I am not having to pick and choose what student uses the chair each day (rather have them use their same numbered chair from the classroom).
