Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students in my class are always moving while they are learning! We work in partners, leveled groups, teacher groups, and whole groups. Many days we like to find a cozy corner to do our silent reading. I have found that when students are not "locked down" into their desks their thinking actually expands. It's almost like they are free to think clearer because they are free to move easier.
Having a giant classroom carpet that all the students can gather at would make it much more comfortable and relaxing to engage in whole group lessons.
Students can stretch out their bodies and their minds in order to take in and process the new information. A carpet would provide my students the comfort they need rather than sitting on the hard floor. Also, the carpet I have selected has the United States map on it. While we are sitting comfortably, the students can learn about our map at the same time!
