This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students need a space of their own to allow them to focus on learning to the best of their abilities.

I really want my classroom to be as comfortable as possible for my students.

I believe DonorsChoose.org is a great way to help me make my classroom awesome.

I teach at a Title 1 school in Orlando, Florida where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of my students face daily challenges coming from a low-income home. Many of my students speak a language other than English for their first language.

ALl of them love to read and are excited about learning.

My Project

First graders are very easily distracted by their peers and often find themselves sitting by their friends. During lesson times that is not a good idea.

Having a comfortable rug with clearly defined squares will give my students a specific spot to sit that will allow them to know exactly where to sit every time.

This will help them transition faster if they know where to sit every time. They will be placed by me in a spot that will not be a distraction for them. A colorful carpet will also add to the appeal of my classroom and make kids want to be a part of my class.
