We use the carpet A LOT during the day! I have students transition to the carpet regularly so that they're learning from different areas in the room. I feel students are just sitting at their desks for hours on end and need to get up and move about sometimes, especially 1st graders! So, I try to get them up and moving at all points during the day so that they're not sitting In one place for too long. I include brain breaks when I notice they get antsy or just need a break but having the carpet helps aid in this as well. Having a carpet also helps provide structures within the classroom and can help manage it better. With all of the movement going on there is definitely some wear and tear on the rug. I need a durable rug that will last more than a year and can last through 1st grade wear and tear.
My goal for this project is to have it mostly all funded.
I want to give my students the best there is and I want to make sure they have a nice clean rug for years to come. A first year teacher it has been hard furnishing my own classroom with my own money. I want to be able to give my students something special before I send them off to the next grade!
My students this year are so sweet. They work very hard at being on their best behavior. They are naturally hard workers and try their very best at everything they do. I have a very good group this year and they are special to me as they are my first group of students I've taught.
