My students are eager readers! As first graders they make large jumps throughout a school year. They need books that have a sentence on the page to chapter books! They quickly read through books and are always on the search for something new and exciting! My students are located in the North-East section of Philadelphia. We also have a high ESL population. At our school, we have a very large diverse community of students.
My Project
Currently, in our classrooms, half of our space is made up of tile flooring. I would like the opportunity to utilize the entire classroom for space for my students to learn and achieve. My students need a space beyond their classroom chairs to read independently. It is important for young students, such as my first graders, to move their bodies. If this project is funded, my students will be able to lay down and move around while still learning! I hope this addition to my classroom will make a cozy, comfortable space for students, to encourage a love for reading!
