My students are enthusiastic about learning. They are loving the independent exploration and discoveries during Math workshop. One of my favorite parts of the day is when they complain they don't want to stop Math because they are having so much fun!!! They also enjoy their independent reading time! I would love to make these experiences more comfortable for them by offering them flexible seating opportunities. Right now they spread out throughout the room with clipboards on the floor and rug, at tables and even at desks. Flexible seating allows them to take charge of their learning and make choices that work best for them.
My Project
During our Math and Reading Workshops, the students are doing a lot of partner and/or independent work. They love to choose spots around the room where such as the rug, floor, tables and the favorite spot is the stool in the back corner. I would love to offer the students more choices for flexible seating throughout the day. When they are given the choice of where to work, they get right to work and make more effective learning choices. I would also like to give some of my more active students the opportunity to have different seating option so they are comfortable during their learning experiences. These flexible seating options will be appropriate for every and ALL students within our classroom. I hope you can help out!
