This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach 34 energetic fifth graders who are eager learners and need to be challenged. This year I have students who perform at various academic levels. My students whose abilities range from low-achieving to above grade level.
My students need flexible seating options so they can be independent learners, work with partners and foster their own learning.
We are a Title 1 school with over 90% of free and reduced lunches. The families we serve really want what is best for their kids and trust me as their teacher to help make those decisions. The students in my classroom are very loving and caring individuals. I want to foster the love and care of school.
My Project
Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work times they choose a location in the classroom that works for them.
The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices.
By having stability balls, mats and other alternative seating in the classroom students are free to make a choice of which seating arrangement is best for their learning. By giving them a choice I am helping them begin to learn how to make appropriate choices to make them more successful in the classroom. This also helps reduce the amount of behavior problems that can happen in the classroom.
