I teach kindergarten at a diverse public school in an urban area. My school has a wonderful community of of students, parents, and teachers who work well together and make school a happy place to be.
It is very important for a classroom to be warm and inviting at any grade level. In kindergarten, it is especially important to have a welcoming classroom since this is the first real school experience for many of my children. I want them to think of school as something they look forward to and are happy about. My ideal classroom environment includes nice rugs, large pillows, and bean bag chairs. These could create comfortable areas where kids could lounge and read together.
The problem is, although my school is a wonderful place, we are working on a very limited budget. We are scraping to buy basic materials such as paper and crayons, and have no money left for the extras we need to bring the classrooms to the next level.
With the help of a generous donor like you, my students will be thrilled to come to school everyday. They will build their lifelong love of reading as they lounge and read together on their comfortable pillows and bean bag chairs!
