Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I work at an elementary school in the East Village in NYC. Our students are amazing, energetic, and kind, but like all kids, have a lot of emotions and things they need to work out.

Kids come to the counseling office for different reasons, but they are all connected in one way- EMOTIONS!!

We all like to be comfortable and cozy while we are getting ourselves together and kids are no different!

These seating options will give kids comfort when they are the most distressed. The bigger bean bags will be useful for individual meetings, or when kids need a solo space to decompress. The smaller chairs will be most useful for group sessions, where there may be 3-4 students at once. They will also be helpful for peer mediation sessions. Kids are more willing to express themselves when they are comfortable! The weighted comfort animals have been a HUGE success in the past, but we need more!
