Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

When students are more engaged, aware, and comfortable with their environments they become more active in their learning. Our class is our home away from home where we typically spend more time at than our actual home. I would love the opportunity to create a safe and comfortable space for my students where they are able to feel truly home. In this positive learning environment I want my students to feel high level of trust amongst themselves and myself. I want them to have a sense of belonging. Only in these environments are students able to tackle challenges, take risks, express themselves and ask for help.

Flexible seating is a chance for my students to choose what seating will best fit their needs.The sofa bed and bean bag chairs will be put to use as flexible seating.

Flexible seating is a chance for my students to choose what seating will best fit their needs. In upper elementary, the traditional desks are not always comfortable all day. Allowing students to be able to select where they will learn will allow students to take charge of their learning. Studies have shown that students who can choose a more comfortable seating will stay more engaged in their learning and will participate more in class.

The floor and desks lamps will create a softer lighting for our classroom. Overhead fluorescent lighting, for instance, typically generates glare that can contribute to eye strain, visual fatigue, and headaches for students trying to read their assignments. The adjustable softer lighting will only add to our comfy classroom transformation.

I am so excited that I will be looping up with my current classroom this year! They work so hard and I know they are super deserving of a comfy and cozy classroom! Thank you for your consideration!
