This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Union Hill is a dedicated community determined to increase the academic excellence of our students. Although our elementary school is located in an inner city, poverty-stricken neighborhood, with a high rate of crime and devoid of many resources, our students are hard-working, determined and ready to succeed!
My twenty sixth-graders are motivated to succeed in school and bring their knowledge with them to their community and future education.
Their current circumstances do not define nor determine who they can be, or what they can achieve!
Our students are grateful for all help!
My Project
My students are noticeably more engaged when they have a comfortable place to learn! Our new reading program encourages classroom room discussion and turn and talks frequently. My students love having a chance to share their ideas and collaborate but unfortunately the tile in our classroom make it hard for everyone to meet on the floor comfortably.
These rugs will provide a comfortable and welcoming space for the students in my class to share their ideas.
The rugs will also provide flexible seating to students who would benefit from being able to spread out and work in a setting other than their desks.
The students in my class will be thrilled for a place to work collaboratively and independent read. These rugs will create cozy working places for my students on our classroom!
