Help me give my students options for learning around the classroom! Plastic chairs and wooden desks are uncomfortable for my students so giving them bean bag chairs to sit in give them comfort and choice!
My junior high (and even high school) students are all about having a fun and creative learning environment. We are an extremely small school district in an agricultural town located in Iowa.
Most of these students wake up early in the morning, even earlier than a majority of their teachers, to do farm chores with fellow family members.
Even though they wake up early for morning duties, they still have time for their extra-curricular activities.
It amazes me at how much energy they still have throughout the day after everything they do in the morning and night before!
My Project
Currently my students, grades 7-11, are uncomfortable with the seating in our classroom; some even have to sit on the floor because we don't have enough room!
Giving my students the option of sitting in bean bags, or using laptop desks will go a long way when it comes to comfort in the classroom.
It is my hope that by giving them choice, and options, in our classroom then students will be more open to learning and be more comfortable. My older students, who are already over school, will especially benefit from it because they will become more excited to attend English class!
