During Covid, my district had to take our rugs away for the safety of our students. When we returned, our rugs had been damaged due to mold, moisture, etc. from being stored in the basement. My students do not come to me with a love for learning, but with the use of rugs and safe and comfy spaces, I am able to hone in on their learning and enable them to build a love for learning in a safe environment. They begin to develop feelings of comfort and will connect those feelings to learning, therefore developing their love for learning through those feelings of safety and comfort.
