Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
VV is an elementary school with over four hundred students. All students are free lunch. Many of the students come from diverse backgrounds and school is the only constant in their day. But that doesn't stop the students from being the best they can be. The students work hard all day reading and practicing math.
The students at our school find a lot of joy in books and coming to the library.
They come to care and depend on the characters of the books. Some of the characters they continue to read for many years. Students love to learn new things and books are a great way to introduce history and science to them.
My Project
Libraries should be a place that students go to learn but also to relax. I am asking for bean bag chairs for the library. This will enable the students to come to the library and read comfortably. These chairs give the students flexible seating while being able to enjoy reading a book.
Libraries are becoming a learning commons where students are able to go to learn from a variety of sources.
I want to make the library a place where students go to seek information but for it also to be a place where students feel comfortable and where they want to hang out. Having a safe environment where they can learn but also be successful is a my goal.
