My Students
My students are in a low income area, with parents that work a lot in order to support their families. Because of the amount that they work we don't have a lot of parental involvement in the classroom. These students face a lot of challenges every single day and I do my best to help them be successful and loved here at school.
My students now have access to one to one technology with each of them having their own Chromebook in our classroom.
I have seen them take ownership of their learning and have been very impressed with the gains they have made while using this new technology.
My Project
Our school is extremely old. The heating/cooling system does not work all the time. We have temperatures that range from 55 degrees to 87 degrees in our classroom. The district sends out maintenance workers to fix it but the system is so old it only works sporadically.
My students struggle to focus when they are too hot or too cold.
Our classroom's temperature is now controlled by the district. By having the ability to control the temperature in our class the students will be able to focus on the lesson, not on their uncomfortableness.
