This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I work with an amazing group of high school students with special needs. They love to learn and work so hard every day. All my students have IEPs, Individualized Educational Plans, specifically designed based on their needs and abilities. One accommodation they all require is flexible seating. They are are not all able to sit still in traditional classroom chairs. This is because they find it uncomfortable or they are unable to sit for long periods of time. To provide them with a more suitable option, I would like to provide them with the option of comfortable seats. When they need a break from their classroom chairs, or they are feeling upset/ stressed, they will be able to sit in comfortable cushioned ground chairs and relax. They will be able to rock in the chair to help them feel more calm.
