My first graders are eager learners. They are a community of many cultures and are inclusive of special education students and English Language Learners. My students attend an urban, public K-8 school.
For some, the classroom at school is the most stable environment they know.
Therefore, I aim to make my classroom a safe and comfortable place where students can be themselves, despite other possible turmoil in their lives. My students really deserve comfortable, alternative seating choices in the classroom.
My Project
The more comfortable students are in a classroom, the more engaged they remain. I would like to make my students as comfortable as possible as they read, write, collaborate on projects and engage in discussions. With these versatile, modern, comfortable, vinyl covered chairs, students will have the option of sitting at a table and chair, wobble stool, small couch or new lounge chairs.
Even as adults, there are times when we are more comfortable and productive at a desk; other times we prefer a recliner.
Students with choice are also more productive.
Please help me provide the most conducive learning environment in my classroom.
