My Students

My students simply don't like reading... they're OBSESSED with reading. Whenever they have the opportunity to read a book, they become incredibly excited to get completely immersed in the world within the text.

My students are 3rd graders who are amazingly intelligent and creative.

We are a small school with big hearts. Every student that attends our school is taught under the gifted program and we are located on the south-side of Chicago. Being a small school, we aren't always given the most funds from our school district. I truly believe that my students deserve all the educational resources that are out there and more.

My Project

My students will be using the reading mats to create a personalized space in our classroom that they can get comfortable with. Our classroom is small and sometimes can feel limited in where we can read our books. By having personal reading mats, students will feel like they have a space of their own to get comfortable and be able to get completely immersed a beautiful story. Aside from individual reading mats, a classroom library rug will allow our library to feel more inviting and warm to all of our readers.
