I told them that I reached out to friends and family first. However, many donors were total strangers. They loved all the donations, but they especially loved the art supplies- like the markers and cardstock. The kids also appreciated the head phones. Middle school students are hard to impress. So, when they tell you the headphones are \"really nice\" they mean the headphones are pretty great. We are almost out of bandaids already. So you know we needed those. And believe me when I tell you...the deodorant gets used all the time as does the lotion. \r\n\r\nAfter we received the boxes of donations, this email popped up in my inbox from a sixth grader. I think you made an impact on him. I told him I would take his ideas into consideration and I would definitely be writing another grant with his input!\r\n\r\nHey Ms Halvorsen\r\n\r\nI hope you're having a great day! I just wanted to reach out and suggest a few things to ask for a donor's choose for that might help students this school year—especially since middle school comes with a lot of changes (and sometimes stronger smells).\r\n\r\nAs we're all going through puberty and starting to grow up, it might be helpful to remind everyone about personal hygiene and a few supplies they can keep in their backpack or locker. Here's a quick list of things that could make our days a little fresher and less awkward:\r\n\r\nDeodorant or antiperspirant – To help with body odor.\r\n\r\nBody wipes or baby wipes – For a quick cleanup after P.E. or a hot day.\r\n\r\nExtra shirt or gym clothes – In case of sweating or accidents.\r\n\r\nPad – For those who are starting their period.\r\n\r\nFace wipes or gentle face wash – To help with oily skin or breakouts.\r\n\r\nMouthwash or breath mints/gum – For fresh breath confidence.\r\n\r\nHairbrush or comb – For quick touch-ups during the day.\r\n\r\nLotion – Especially for dry hands or skin in colder weather.\r\n\r\nHand sanitizer – To stay clean throughout the day.\r\n\r\nTravel-sized body spray (not too strong) – Optional, but helpful.\r\n\r\nIf this is something we could talk about as a class or just give other students a reminder about, that could be really helpful. Middle school is already a lot—we just want to stay clean, confident, and comfortable.\r\n\r\nThanks for your time and for understanding!\r\n\r\nSo thanks again for your generous donation.","fullyFundedDate":1758567612371,"projectUrl":"project/middle-school-is-hard-enough-without-bei/9739472/","projectTitle":"Middle School Is Hard Enough Without Being Stinky","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Halvorsen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9050432_orig.jpg?crop=528,528,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1693504511552","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9050432"},{"teacherId":3976894,"projectId":9324550,"letterContent":"It was such a wonderful surprise to have the Donors Choose fully funded and receive the items before the end of the year!\r\n\r\nThe swing rulers are amazing in the new Geometry class. In fact, all classes have found a use for them and they are accessible in the student bins. \r\n\r\nThe Teachers Pay Teachers gift card has really come in handy for purchasing foldables and sets of hands-on self checking cards that reinforce the concepts we are working on.\r\n\r\nThe magnetic file folders are helping us all stay organized! Each class as one on the front board, and when students are absent, they know right where to go to retrieve their missing work! \r\n\r\nStudents are eager to go to the board, and we're always in need of Expo markers! In addition to board work, they also like working in the small group table, now that there are two super comfy black leather chairs. \r\n\r\nWe are so grateful for the donations that helped improve the classroom environment, and made materials more accessible for use in math class!","fullyFundedDate":1746646744700,"projectUrl":"project/strong-finish-to-the-end-of-the-year/9324550/","projectTitle":"Strong Finish to the End of the Year!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Smith","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3976894"},{"teacherId":2597486,"projectId":9010016,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, our school library is transforming into a dynamic, multi-purpose space that benefits all of our students!
