As a teacher who works with inpatient students struggling with depressio, anxiety, suicide, bipolar disorder, and other mental health issues, I have seen firsthand how challenging it is for them to cope with the daily struggles they face. One of the things that my colleagues and I have noticed is that the students often complain about the hospital food and come to class asking for snacks. Many of them are homesick, and we all know that comfort food can help one feel better. Having their favorite snacks is one way we can relieve some stress and bring a little joy to their hearts during this hard time in their lives.
Providing snacks and drinks for our students during their inpatient stay can bring them a sense of comfort, joy, and normalcy during a challenging time in their lives.
Your support will also help us purchase snacks and drinks for our sip-and-paint event and Movie Fridays. Unfortunately, some students spend their birthdays in the hospital, and these treats can be used for a celebration.
