This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My 6-8 grade students are very athletic. Each class is larger this year-more so than usual, but that just means I have more students to impact. Their learning environment is so critical, and these items would make everything so much better for them. Living in Tucson, it is pretty hot (and recently humid) throughout the year. Even during the "winter," when students are playing, they get very warm. When we come back into the classroom, usually there is no air conditioning, or the heat is on. There is no relief from being hot because they're working so hard.

This project will give them the comfort of cold water and a cool classroom so they can be more successful.

Having an ice maker in the room will provide plenty of students ice cold water. I plan on putting the fans in the corners and having them run so there is cool air going around the classroom because they are constantly coming back into the classroom sweaty. These items will greatly improve morale and results for my middle school students.
