Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are very special 3rd graders in a high needs area of a borough in New York. Many of my students are English language learners, and some with special needs. Each student is unique in his or her own way and deserves to have the best educational experience possible. All of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch and come to school every day eager to learn.

In the classroom, we incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are!

They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year!

My Project

To support my students in their learning, they are often grouped in flexible groups to receive more targeted instruction that meets their academic needs. Students are often working in collaborative groups with their peers or working closely with the teacher, receiving targeted instruction.

Due to the size of our classroom, it would be helpful to have stools for the students to sit in small groups when receiving instruction from their teachers.

It will provide comfort as well as adhere to the limited space available in the classroom for them to meet. In addition, we are requesting a 2 cases of copy paper and 2 boxes of pencils to help replenish the supplies used to create daily activities and assignments for the students.
