Comfort & Care: Building a Classroom That Feels Like Home

Help me give my students cozy seating, snacks, and reading buddies so they feel safe, seen, and cared for. They deserve a classroom that wraps them in comfort as they learn, grow, and just be kids.

My Project

What I love most about my students is their curiosity, their honesty, and the way their eyes light up when a story captures their imagination. Teaching early literacy is one of my greatest joys, especially when I get to bring stories to life through animated read-alouds and playful puppet voices. I love seeing them fully engaged, laughing, wondering, and connecting.

But I’ve learned that it is not just about the books.

It is about building a world around those books where students feel safe, cared for, and seen. These resources help create that world. Cozy seating, snacks, and reading companions offer more than comfort. They tell my students they matter. If I want them to love learning, I have to make sure they are not hungry, anxious, or uncomfortable.

This is how a lifelong love of literacy begins, with warmth, dignity, and joy woven into every part of the classroom.
