Help me give my students a carpet so they can have a nice and comfy place to sit for whole group lessons, and a set of math centers so they can enrich what they learned during whole group!
My students are enthusiastic learners that love to get their hands-on books and manipulatives and enjoy getting hands on with their learning!
70% of my students come from poverty but seeing their smiles every morning, you would never guess they come from such a hard home life.
Even after taking a direct impact from Hurricane Harvey last year, their resilience amazes me. It doesn’t seem to phase them! However, our classroom sustained water damage, leaving us lacking cabinets and some materials.
My Project
My school is located near the coast of Texas, and we took a direct hit from Hurricane Harvey. Even though it is now a year in the past, our school still suffers its scars. My classroom incurred water damage which damaged many materials and supplies, as well as the classroom carpet.
Since the district as a whole took a heavy hit from Harvey, we are all struggling to replace the materials lost.
I am short many math supplies to supply proper math centers, and if provided with a fabulous set of multifaceted and hands on math centers, the students will be able to dig deeper into what they are learning in whole group. Right now I am preparing every single activity and I am struggling to keep up with constantly changing the stations with every unit on top of the other subjects. The Lakeshore Math Centers come with everything I need to just open up the box and set it up! Even a directions card!
The carpet that is currently in the room, is covered in runs, frayed edges that are getting worse from us tripping over them, and has set in stains from water damage. We tried sitting on the tile ground but with how much we are on the ground, we need the carpet. It just has rows of colored squares and serves no other purpose other than sitting on it. I would love the 120 chart carpet by Lakeshore because we work using a 120’s chart all year. Their bodies could be the manipulatives and have the kids us the carpet for a center activity! It wouldn’t be just a carpet, it would become another manipulative in the classroom!
