My Students

I teach in a Title I school which means that a majority of my students come from low-income families. Half of our students are open enrolled which means the school receives less funding from the state for their seats. While there is some variance year to year, I typically teach mostly juniors and freshmen. Every year juniors take the ACT exam - which is an incredibly important exam.

Even though they face many challenges, my students can succeed.

With the right opportunities and resources made available to them, I believe they will advance!

My Project

I am hoping to add to my classroom library with several texts that might interest students. It takes time to procure a large classroom library, but I am gaining progress little by little (because of gracious donors like you!).

I try to make my classroom a place students want to be.

This means purchasing furniture to replace rundown desks and chairs that have definitely seen better days. By purchasing the shoe shelf (which I plan to use for books) with seating and a cafe table, I am adding two places to the classroom for students to sit when old school desks just won't work.
