My Project
I currently teacher resource math at the junior high school in the small town I live in. The majority of students who attend my school, and whom I teach and service, are students that come from a home where money is an issue.
These students come to class asking for snacks or food almost daily. I have purchased a lot of snacks, hundreds of dollars worth, but I am no longer able to finance this myself. The students I service struggle to sit still, they struggle to come to school, and they feel inferior with their learning struggles. I always strive to create a space where students feel safe, loved, and successful in their education. So if I can give them snack, make sure they have water so that there are less interruptions in our lessons, provide sturdy but different seating that helps them with their learning, I do my best. If I can get some help to find differentiated materials to better teach them to their needs, I do my best. I just want to be a great teacher and help these kiddos grow emotionally and academically.
