My Project
I teach at a Title I school with a diverse population with students of all abilities. I have students who sometimes come needing more than their families can sometimes provide. Despite these hardships, my students still come to school smiling and ready to learn. I work really hard to create a classroom environment where my students feel safe and happy and are willing to take risks and want to learn.
One crucial thing we need to help build that environment is a new classroom rug.
Since I'm moving grade levels this year, I will no longer have a carpet. A carpet will give my students a place to gather for morning meetings, whole group lessons, number talks, read alouds and a place to read during independent reading. A new carpet would help me to be able to provide this for my students.
