Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach 20 second graders in a high poverty school that is located in a school district that is facing severe budget cuts. Many of my students are English learners.

My students need high interest, engaging activities to improve reading fluency. During literacy time, the students work in centers on activities that target their individual needs.

These reading fluency activities will enhance our differentiated work time by maintaining the students' interest while working on essential skills.The skill-building fluency station is packed with exciting activities that will help students develop a sense of pacing, intonation, expression and more! The freestanding station features 4 engaging activities that students complete alone or with a partner. The fluency-building cards make it easy for students to practice oral reading skills. It helps boosting speed, accuracy and word recognition as they go! Students can use the included timers to read aloud for 1 minute, and then record the number of words they’ve read correctly!
