This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a pre-school special education class located in Los Angeles, California, that serves pre-school to sixth grade students. The school is located in a very low income neighborhood, 100% of the students receive free lunch. The school is surrounded by homeless, traffic, and the freeway. The majority of the school is Hispanic and we have several new comers at our school that do not speak English. We also have a very high population of special education classes. As a school our goal is to prepare students that are college bound.
My students are ten pre-school special education students, three of them have autism and the other six are developmentally delayed, but they come in every day with smiles on their faces and eager to learn.
My goal as a teacher is prepare my students for the future and encourage them to love school now and forever.
My Project
The supplies I have requested have a spot waiting for them in our classroom. The rug was damaged during the summer and the children need it to play with the cars on the floor. At the moment the children play on the cold floor. The Fishing Math Centers were stolen during the Thanksgiving Vacation. The children are constantly asking me for their "fishies". They really enjoy their old math fish centers.
The donations for this project will really help improve the learning of my pre-school special education classroom, they will have items that they miss greatly.
The rug is so important on the rug they play with their cars and dinosaurs. Now the children don't even go to the transportation area.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
