Come on Baby, Light My Fire With Fahrenheit 451

Help me give my students 14 copies of Fahrenheit 451 to expand their literacy and critical thinking skills, while learning about the dangers of censorship and conformity.

My Project

Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 is the perfect book for my special needs high school students to explore what happens when censorship becomes law and conformity become expected. These themes are prevalent not only in Bradbury's science fiction novel about book burning, but in the world in which my students navigate daily.

Making Fahrenheit 451 accessible to students who often feel like they don't fit into a world made for neurotypical people will help them to see that their own need to think and act independently can be a super power.

My ADHD and autism spectrum students will gain a new understanding of the importance of critical thinking, as well as the the importance of maintaining their individuality in a world that sometimes expects them to conform.

Additionally, I'm asking for 2 teaching guides for Fahrenheit 451, in order to have a wide range of material to easily differentiate learning for students on a wide range of reading levels in my classes. This will ensure that all students are able to meet their educational goals and this important work of literature is accessible to all.
