My Students

My students are a lively group of 4th graders who will be coming to a newly renovated school this fall. Though this fall may be different, my students will be able to enter a classroom where they can play, discover, and learn.

My hope for my classroom is that it is a place for students to gather and create a community that learns and grows together.

For many students, this may be their first year attending this school and many things will be different, but I want my classroom to continue to be a safe and welcoming space for them.

My Project

Each morning the students in my classroom gather on the rug to begin the day. We spend time in morning meeting sharing, working together, and creating a safe classroom community where we can learn and grow together. Many of my lessons also involve students huddled on the rug working together to solve math problems or discussing what they have been reading.

The rug is the center of my classroom because all learning and community building begins there.

This rug will provide my students with plenty of space to gather, learn, play, and grow.
