it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
A handheld Garmin GPS will allow students to virtually hike with me. In my free time I go hiking and visit National Parks along the way I take a lot of pictures that I than share with my students. I want to take this "show and tell" up a notch for my students so they can explore these trails virtually. The Garmin GPSmaps 65s will allow me to mark waypoints along the trail recording information like GPS coordinates and elevation. While exploring the trails I can mark waypoints and can take 360 photograph at those location.
Marking waypoints and taking photographs will allow me to develop virtual hikes for my students where they can journey along the trail observing the local ecosystems.
Using the GPS technology I will be able to upload a topographic map of the trail which will include the waypoints I mark along the way. Students will then be able to see where on the trails the pictures are taken. This will enable students to see how the ecosystems change along the way how far the locations are from each point and how elevation influences the types of ecosystems along the way.
